Community Health Best Practices, LLC Announces Formation of National Purchasing Alliance for Community Health Centers
May 30, 2014
Community Health Best Practices, LLC (“CHBP”), in partnership with Community Health Ventures (“CHV”), is excited to announce the formation of a unique purchasing alliance comprised entirely of community health centers. The goal of the Best Practices Purchasing Alliance is to maximize cost savings for its membership, while also fostering opportunities for sharing best practices in purchasing and supply chain management.
In announcing the new purchasing alliance, Don Daniel, CHBP’s Executive Director, expressed excitement at the opportunity to bring best practices in product/supply purchasing to community health centers: “While purchasing alliances or ‘IDN’ purchasing has been fairly common in acute care for many years, community health centers have been slow to adopt similar structures. CHBP is an organization committed to sharing and proliferating best practices in clinical care as well as health center operations, and we believe that this purchasing alliance will result in tremendous cost savings for our membership over time.”
Danny Hawkins, Senior Vice President of CHV, added “Community Health Ventures was honored to be chosen by Community Health Best Practices to advise them in the creation of their purchasing alliance. We strongly believe that the types of efforts CHBP members are engaged in presently represent the future of group purchasing in the community health center market and will contribute to strengthening their overall financial health.”
The initial members of the Best Practices Purchasing Alliance are Columbia Basin Health Association (Othello, WA); Community Health Center, Inc. (Middletown, CT); East Boston Neighborhood Health Center (Boston, MA); El Rio Community Health Center (Tucson, AZ); Family HealthCare Network (Visalia, CA); Mariposa Community Health Center (Nogales, AZ); Morris Heights Health Center (Bronx, NY); Presbyterian Medical Services (Santa Fe, NM); Salud Family Health Centers (Fort Lupton, CO); Waianae Coast Comprehensive Health Center (Waianae, HI); and Yakima Valley Farm Workers Clinic (Yakima, WA).
